2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike – Features and Price
Iconic. Nostalgic. Soulful
The 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike is a contemporary cruiser with a retro feel about it, thanks to its design. It has the look and feels of an early BMW touring cruiser.
The white double pinstripes on the 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike serve as a nod to our motorcycle’s timeless heritage. The boxer engine with the most significant displacement we have ever manufactured in the heart of the machine. It’s made for strolls and sheer bliss.
Early in the torque curve, the engine gives an instantaneous reaction. The 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike’s 1802 cc twin-cylinder boxer engine is our biggest ever. An engine that can be seen heard, and felt.
It has a maximum torque of 116 lb-ft at an rpm of 3,000 for this engine. It provides more than 100 lb-ft of torque between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm, typical of a boxer engine’s operating characteristics. The Big Boxer generates 91 horsepower at 4,750 rpm.
A Cruiser Inspired by Icons
Fine-looking embellishments compliment a sleek shape. The 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike has a distinctive look that draws attention to itself.
Boxer Engine
The “Big Boxer,” a brand-new two-cylinder boxer engine, is the centerpiece of the new 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike. Since BMW Motorrad started production in 1923, its air-cooled boxer engines have provided riders with an exhilarating riding experience, and this new model continues that heritage.
Throughout motorcycle series manufacturing, the most powerful two-cylinder boxer engine to date has been a 1,802 cc unit. Maximum power is 91 horsepower at 4 750 revolutions per minute. Throughout the rev range, between 2,000 and 4,000 RPM, there is more than 150 Nm of torque available, which is matched by a rich, booming sound.
Rear swinging Arm
A double-loop steel tube frame lies at the heart of the new 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike’s suspension system. Its design is a continuation of BMW Motorrad’s lengthy heritage of using this frame style.
Welded couplings between steel tubes and cast or forged pieces are only one example of the excellent quality and attention to detail found in the production process. By way of fastened connections, the rear swingarm mimics the architecture of the classic BMW R 5 and encircles the rear axle gearbox.
Shock-Absorbing Cantilever Suspension
For the new 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike, electronic adjustment options were omitted from the suspension components of the vehicles. Superior steering precision is achieved by using a direct-mount, travel-dependent central suspension strut with an adjustable spring preload and a telescopic fork.
Like the BMW R 5, the fork tubes are protected by fork sleeves. The front suspension travel is 120 millimeters, while the rear suspension travel is 90 millimetres. The fork tube diameter is 49 millimeters.
The four-piston fixed calipers and dual disc brakes upfront and a single disc brake down back slow down the new 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike. Furthermore, the wire-spoked wheels give the vehicle a distinctive look.
Harmonious Ergonomics
The new 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike has “mid-mounted footpegs” in line with BMW Motorrad’s idea of a laid-back riding stance. Not only is this iconic BMW position behind the cylinders conventional, but it also allows for a calm and aggressive riding posture for the best vehicle handling.
A wide range of riding modes, including ASC and MSR, is standard. In addition to the standard features, Hillstart Control and Reverse Assist are also available.
Riding modes “Rain,” “Roll,” and “Rock,” which are rare in this class, are also available on the new 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike. ASC (Automatic Stability Control, disengaged) is also included in the basic trim, ensuring a high degree of riding safety. Engine drag torque control is also included in the new 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike (MSR). In addition to the reverse assist, the Hill Start Control feature makes it easier to start uphill.
Iconic Elegance, Current Technology, and Original materials
The new 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike is expertly able to bring the distinctive aesthetic of bygone eras into the current day while maintaining a refined design in various areas heavily inspired by BMW R 5 classics.
Functional and aesthetically pleasing aspects reminiscent of the famed boxer from 1936 include the double-loop frame, pear-drop tank, open-running universal shaft, and double-lined painting (ex-works option). R 18 Classic and R 18 Classic bodywork features are constructed of metal, too, as befits a true classic.
Additionally, the suspension is evocative of the venerable R 5. A cantilever suspension strut and a double-sided swinging arm effectively bring the rigid-frame idea of the R 5 into the present era in aesthetic terms.
Distinctive Paint and Chrome Finish
From the start, the new R 18 will be available in two limited-edition forms: the 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike, with a standard model only available in a few locations. With a traditional black finish and white double-lined paintwork, it blends the R 18 style with distinctive equipment features. A seat emblem and a “First Edition” chrome clasp on the side covers round off the chrome accents.
Friendly Architecture
An emphasis on conversion-friendly architecture was evident in the early design stages of the 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike’ basic vehicle layouts. Because of this, the back frame and painted component set are both simply detachable.
It is also possible to add taller or lower handlebars with matching hydraulic lines and cable harnesses thanks to well-designed interface points for brake, clutch, and cable harness hydraulic lines. To make things even simpler, the oil chamber is separated from the visible valve covers (cylinder head covers) and the belt cover (engine housing cover).
The R 18 Classic and 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike have a wide choice of customization options available via BMW Motorrad’s equipment catalog. The wide variety of Original BMW Motorrad Accessories components makes it possible to customize both the R 18 Classic and the R 18 substantially. “Machined” and “2-Tone-Black” milled aluminum components are available for the market debut of the new R 18 Classic and R 18, produced in partnership with Roland Sands Design.
Ford Mustang seats
BMW Motorrad has partnered with Roland Sands Design and numerous other well-known suppliers, including US maker Mustang Seat, to provide a variety of high-quality hand-made seat options for the new 2021 R18 Classic First Edition BMW Bike. With Vance & Hines, the exhaust system customization possibilities are just as extensive.
