The 2021 Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe Bike is a tribute to the famous Z1, the first inline four-cylinder hot rod motorbike. It features Kawasaki’s state-of-the-art electronic rider support technology, suspension, LED lighting, and digital equipment, as well as traditional Z1 style and engine management.
The Kawasaki Z900RS ABS motorcycle uses timeless design features with minimal bodywork and no firing for pure retro styling, restoring the popular style of the original Z1 900 motorcycle. A 948cc engine and new technology make the Z900RS ABS series ready for the traditional but modern ride.

Engine
The engine is based on the Z900 but has been redesigned to give it a different character. While the Z900 engine’s crisp, quick-revolving character favors high rpm operation, the Z900RS is tuned for low to mid-range power, giving enough torque to keep all skill-level riders in control. Allows. The engine pulls the Z900 below 7,000 rpm.
Cam profiles with a low intake (270 to 248 rpm) and exhaust (256 to 244 rpm) emphasize engine performance in common to medium rpm band. The engine is highly manageable due to its strong and smooth response.
To compensate for the short-term valve opening, the compression ratio on the Z900 has been reduced from 11.8: 1 to 10: 8. The smooth quality of the Z900RS is due to the crankshaft with slightly higher flywheel mass than the Z900. The open deck design of the diecast cylinder block helps to save weight while maintaining rigidity.
Connecting tunnels between cylinders improve high rpm efficiency by minimizing pumping losses. The pistons are made using the same proprietary casting methods found in the Ninja H2 / H2. This method produces hollow sections to achieve maximum thickness for weight loss.
Digital Fuel Injection (KP)
The mid-range response of 36mm throttle bodies is excellent. The ECU controls the sub-throttle valves, located behind the main throttle valves, to ensure a smooth and responsive throttle response in the EFI system.
Exhaust System
Extensive sound research was done to create the best exhaust note, emphasizing engine sound at startup, idle, and low speeds, where the rider can best enjoy the deep mess of the exhaust. Double-walled headers make the pipe exhaust more robust and prevent heat dissipation. The small megaphone muffler on the 4-Int-1 exhaust enhances the classic look and the exhaust note.
Assist and Slipper Clutch (KP)
The clutch is pressed together during acceleration (Assist function) using the rotating forces of the clutch hub and pressure plate, allowing the use of low and light clutch springs for a soft feeling on the lever. The sleeper function allows some clutches to slip during high back-torque conditions, such as when the low gear is selected while shifting down, rear wheel hops and reduced stops due to engine lock-up. When the clutch is disconnected, the Joder Spring component helps to stop the Joder.
Transmission
The gearing is tailored to the features of the Z900RS engine. A shorter first gear, with the engine’s powerful low and torque, makes it easier to accelerate from the stop. A more extended sixth gear allows the engine to run at lower rpm while traveling at highway speeds, improving ride comfort.
Trellis Frame
The trail frame was built using Kawasaki’s advanced analysis technologies to fit a close teardrop fuel tank while still providing retro-style handling that is ideal for a slow ride.
The Z900RS features neutral, or even currency, as opposed to the Z900’s aggressive, forward-leaning stance. It is done by lifting the front and lowering the back. The suspension settings were intended to provide a high level of comfort for a more comfortable riding experience. The upper triple clamp increases steering offset by 6 mm (28 to 34 mm on Z900), reduces trail and contributes to lighter handling.
Inverted Front Fork
The 41mm inverted front fork enhances excellent ride comfort and sporty riding capability. Thanks to 10-way compression and 12-way rebound damping adjustment, fine-tuning is possible for ride tastes and riding style.
Horizontal Back-link Rear Suspension (KP)
Equipped with Kawasaki’s state-of-the-art suspension technology for high sporting capability, and matches the rider’s comfort level and the sporty performance of the front fork.
For better mass distribution and to keep the letdown shock absorber away from the exhaust, the linkage is placed on top of the swing arm, which is not affected by the exhaust heat. Both preload and rebound damping are adjusted to the shock.
Brakes
Dual 300mm front discs are held in place by dual anti-piston monoblock calipers, which create a solid sensation upon first contact, resulting in excellent braking performance. To enhance the high-quality, sporty appearance, the machine monoblock calipers have an alumite coating and laser-engraved Kawasaki mark. The radial-pump further contributes to the excellent control and feel of the master cylinder calipers. Sintered brake pads give the best sense.
Distinctive Z Styling
The gasoline tank Z1 inspires the teardrop in the middle, and the frame was designed to accommodate the best position and slim shape of the tank. Immersion graphics on the Candy Tone Brown model complement the rich paint used on the tank, resulting in a design that does not leave the top surface, resulting in a high-quality finish.
The 4.5-gallon fuel tank extends to the bottom of the side cover, which maintains the compact profile of the tank while providing more tank volume to increase the cruising range. A stylish petrol tank lid complements the sleek lines of the tank. Side covers were made to allow water to flow freely from the tank. The classic look is enhanced with markings on the side cover.
