2021 690 Enduro R KTM Adventure Bikes Review Specs

Feel the rush of excitement as you chase tarmac turns into your favorite off-road spot, all from the comfort of your own home. The KTM 690 Enduro R, which shines when the dirt starts and the terrain grows more intense, does not need a trailer. It simply requires you to crank the throttle: the lightweight chassis and aggressive design complement innovative electronics and WP XPLOR suspension on the 690LC4 motorcycle. The light, high-performance king of adaptability is here to conquer even more challenging terrain.

Airbox

The airbox beneath the seat makes it simple to get to the air filter while riding. When you are off the usual path and need to service your bike, this is an easy decision.

Engine

From the very lowest RPMs, the engine can deliver strong acceleration and a smooth engine operation. Another huge reward is that it is incredibly fuel-efficient.

Cylinder Head

Four valves, a single camshaft, and a secondary balancer shaft powered by the timing chain make up a lightweight, compact cylinder head. Unlike the exhaust valves, the intake valves use finger followers to open and close.

Resonator Chamber

Pulses in the intake tract are balanced by a resonator chamber, which smoothest throttle response and reduces vibration.

Balancer shaft

A smoother ride is achieved using two balancer shafts, one in front of the crankshaft and one in the cylinder head.

Piston

The low reciprocating mass of the forged piston makes it easier for the engine to respond quickly.

Conrods

A lower reciprocating mass is achieved by using plain bearings in the conrod, improving performance and making the engine livelier.

PASC Clutch

Power Assist Clutch (PASC) reduces the rider’s input since less engine torque is sent to the clutch plates by reducing the PASC’s torque. Under aggressive downshifting, a slipper clutch keeps the rear wheels from locking up, decreasing tire noise on the road while braking suddenly or decelerating into a bend.

Gearbox

While racing, the Quick shifter+ enables rapid and easy shifts without a clutch. Keeping a firm hold on the handlebars helps rear tire traction while giving the rider more control of the motorbike.

Ride-by-wire

The ride-by-wire technology of 2021 690 Enduro R KTM Adventure interprets throttle twist grip motions through electronic sensors and operates the throttle valves to manage throttle action. As a result, the rider will have greater control over the potent single-cylinder and a more pleasant experience overall.

Injection / Engine Management

Adaptive performance is made possible by fuel injection and engine management that is fully integrated into the vehicle’s computer system. There is a noticeable increase in performance due to MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control), MSR (Motor Slip Regulation), and Quick shifter+, as well as decreased fuel consumption and pollutants. Engine characteristics may be altered by selecting one of two alternative mappings. Two different spark plugs in the cylinder head are independently controlled by a twin-plug ignition system, resulting in more efficient combustion and a smoother, more precisely controlled combustion sequence at all points in the engine’s operation.

Long service intervals

Long service intervals of 10,000 kilometers further reduce the cost of ownership for the KTM 690 Enduro R.

Fuel Tank

13.5 liters of gasoline are stored in the vast fuel tank on the vehicle. To provide the highest possible handling and control, it serves as a load-bearing portion of the chassis.

Frame

Chrome-molybdenum steel tube with varied thicknesses is used to build the trellis frame. The torsional stiffness of this balanced frame design delivers the most excellent handling and rideability. At the same time, a more specifically tuned longitudinal flexibility can absorb the wheel impact energy, supporting the suspension for less rider fatigue.

Sub-frame

Weight is kept low, and design complexity is eliminated by using the back gasoline tank as the major structural component of the sub-frame, a novel design choice.

Swingarm

High progression rates may be achieved thanks to swingarm design, providing an appropriate installation location for the rear shock. The single-component casting technique eliminates inconsistencies and weak areas present in a welded swingarm.

Triple clamp

Forks are held firmly in place by 24 mm offset (adjustable to 22 mm) forged triple clamps, ensuring accurate handling. The handlebars may be adjusted in four diverse ways to provide the best possible ergonomics for the rider.

Front Fork

The WP XPLOR 48 upside-down fork makes riding easier across rugged terrain. Initially intended for the EXC models, WP and KTM collaborated on the split fork design for the KTM 690 ENDURO R. Compression springs on the left and rebound springs on the right are installed on each side. Neither of them hurts the other. Since both fork tubes have thirty clicks of adjustment apiece, damping may be readily changed.

Rear Shock

A connection connects the WP XPLOR shock absorber to the swingarm. There is an increased resilience to bottoming out because of this. Adjustable in every way, including high- and low-speed compression, the shock absorber may be tailored to suit any situation or riding style.

Wheels & tires

For optimum strength and lightest weight, the KTM wheels employ lightweight CNC machined hubs and high-end 21″ and 18″ rims. MITAS E07 tires are wrapped around the rims, providing exceptional traction and a long lifetime.

Brakes

Compelling and predictable braking performance is provided by BREMBO brakes that are equipped with lightweight wave discs, each measuring three hundred millimeters across the front and 240 millimeters across the rear wheels.

Seats

A 910 mm seat height allows for easy access without compromising ground clearance, and the seat material is specifically designed for off-road use, with a subtle texture that ensures maximum traction in both dry and wet conditions.

Handlebar

Rubber mounts prevent vibrations on the 808 mm wide lightweight tapered handlebars. To provide optimum control in all conditions, their breadth and form have been carefully considered.

Footpegs

Footpegs equipped with “No Dirt” technology prevent the pegs from being jammed up, even while digging through deep ruts or traversing damp ground. With rubber inserts to the peg, smooth roads may be made a little less jarring.

Off-road Anti-Shock System

Only when the KTM 690 Enduro R’s off-road ABS mode is engaged does ABS operate on the front wheels. After locking up the back wheel, a rider may then deactivate the front wheel’s anti-lock braking system (ABS) so that the vehicle can be controlled off-road. Lean angle and wheel lift detection are no longer relevant in this mode of operation.

Dashboard

An easy-to-read display presents the rider with the most critical data.

Rider aids

Ride-by-wire and the engine management system (EMS) allow new and easy-to-use electronic rider aids to be developed. The new-generation LC4 motor may be put to work in a far wider variety of terrains and circumstances thanks to these qualities.

Ride Modes

Two forms of transportation are available: (2) Wheel slides and wheelies are minimized in “street mode,” with a sporty throttle response for ideal street performance. When in “Off-road mode,” the throttle responds smoothly, allowing for wheel slip and front-wheel lift without affecting performance. The handlebars make it simple to move between the various modes, allowing for quick and easy tuning of the engine’s character. It is possible to disengage traction control.
