2020 Superveloce 800 MV Agusta Sports Bike Review

The MV Agusta Superveloce 800 and Superveloce 800 Serie Oro have gone into average production after their victory at EICMA 2018. With a contemporary spin on the brand’s athletic tradition, this model is set to be a milestone in the history of the Varese, Italy-based firm. Revolutionary retro-inspired motorcycles have been created by combining features from the past with modern technology to an extraordinary degree. Every element brings back memories of the 37 world championships won while also connecting to the current day.

Design and Details

The CRC designers, led by Adrian Morton, have created distinct lines, innovating in the retro motorbike category that has seen the same designs return for a long time now. To protect the rider, the fairing forms are relatively streamlined without going overboard with the aesthetics. All the screws and fastening points to the frame are hidden by the impressive design, which does not change the harmony of the surfaces. On Superveloce 800 Serie Oro, the metallic silver side panels (unique on this model) provide a three-dimensional sculptural quality, evocative of prior versions, from any aspect.

There is a bulk of carbon fiber and thermoplastic in the Superveloce 800 Serie Oro’s superstructure. It includes the side parts of the top fairing, the mudguards, the belly pans, the under-seat shields, the cover of the intake ducts, the full fairing support, windscreen, and upper and lower chain guards, as well as the tail fairing attachment. The regular variant, on the other hand, features fairings made of thermoplastic.

A beautiful poly-ellipsoidal, full LED, the dual-function front light cluster is used. Day running lights are integrated into the instrumentation support very efficiently. The Superveloce 800’s rear LED light set is similarly custom-designed for the vehicle.
There are several unique characteristics of this model, such as the custom-made gasoline cap with leather strap and the metal ring that surrounds the front and rear lamps.

As with the 1000 Series Oro, the instrumentation is drawn from the 1000 Serie Oro’s second-generation compact 5″ TFT color display. On the left controls and selectors, a multi-function joystick provides rapid access to the menu. A Bluetooth smartphone connection enables the instruments to handle incoming calls, texts, and music. It’s feasible to utilize the MV Ride App’s navigation features through mirroring since smartphone users access bike use and route data. It’s not only the bike’s electrical settings that you may change through the app (maps, traction control, and electronic quick-shift). Tracking and anti-theft features are standard on the Serie Oro.

Engine and Electronics

As a result of its excellent performance, thermodynamic efficiency, low weight, and compactness, the Superveloce 800’s in-line, three-cylinder engine continues to be an example of excellence in motors of this kind. The dual overhead camshaft controls twelve titanium intake and exhaust valves. Bore and stroke specifications (79×54.3) allow for a displacement of 798 cubic centimeters, with power and torque ratings identical to those of the F3 800 at 13,000 RPM and 88 Nm at 10,600 RPM. At 13,250 rpm, the 800 Serie Oro’s 153 horsepower is reached in the triple exhaust arrangement for track usage, with two exhaust pipes on each side. On the right side, three exhaust pipes overlap in the conventional form.

To fit the Superveloce 800, an engine map adjustment has been made, allowing the engine to produce more power while maintaining the same level of responsiveness to the throttle as on a super sports model like the F3 800.

Besides the four-engine settings, including one that can be extensively customized, the F3 800’s electronic setup adds even more value to the already comprehensive offering. The MV EAS 2.1 Up&Down electronic transmission and traction control with eight distinct settings and a deactivation option is included in the Superveloce 800 standard and Serie Oro.

Chassis, Suspension, and Brakes

Superveloce 800 and Superveloce 800 Serie Oro are based on the F3 800’s technical specifications, mirrored in most of their dimensions. The front and rear subframes are unique to this model, as are the side plates and center lattice. Compared to the F3 800, which is mainly built for track usage, the riding posture has been somewhat altered to make it more comfortable and less restricting. The Alcantara upholstery on the seats of the Superveloce 800 Serie Oro adds a dash of luxury.

The Superveloce 800’s spoked wheel rims, including a 5.5″ rear channel and a 3.5″ front channel, are another distinguishing aesthetic and functional feature compared to the F3 800. To provide a more comfortable ride, the F3’s rear suspension has an improved link, which is also found in the F4. This model has a unique shock absorber that was specifically chosen for it.

Customers of the Superveloce 800 Serie Oro will get a package that comprises a number of unique parts. As a starting point, the kit includes an open “three-exit” exhaust, which is used in conjunction with a specialized control unit. For a more enjoyable driving experience, cruise control provides a sense of security. It is completed with the DID Gold chain, a custom-made bike cover, and a GPS sensor. A locator and anti-theft system are offered as optional extras for both models.
