2020 Speed Twin Triumph Modern Classic Motorcycle – Features and Price
Performance-Oriented Modern Classic
The 1200cc Speed Twin combines all the modern custom styling of the Triumph Street Twin with even more stunning finishes and detail, with all the comfortable and timeless DNA of the Bonneville T120 but more engagement and all the power and torque of the Thruxton R. Û” A more accessible modern setup. Speed Twin redefines class-leading handling and sets a new standard for how a bespoke roadster should ride and feel.
Class-leading handling
With a precise, elegant, and dynamic modern roadster ride, and a confidently impressive, intuitive feel, the new Speed Twin sets a new standard for classy handling.
Exclusive new frame derived from the Thruxton R delivers comfortable busy roadster ergonomics. High-specified cartridge front forks and adjustable spring pre-load with dual rear suspension units result in a unique ride.
The high spec twin Brembo 4 piston axial caliper with twin discs in the front and two-piston floating calipers with a single disc in the rear give extraordinary stopping power similar to the modern roadster style of the motorcycle.
In addition to the confidence-building ride, the new Speed Twin has:
- 17-inch lightweight cast-aluminum wheels with seven spokes
- Extraordinary quality tires Pirelli Rosso Corsa 3
- Standard features include ABS and switchable traction control.
- Riding position that is comfortable, straight, and busy.
- A new upper gambler and riser with tapered handlebars
- With a low height of 807mm, the redesigned bench seat makes the bike accessible to all users.
The modern roadster character comes alive with its 1200cc high power eight valves and parallel twin bony wheel engine, significantly updated for the new Speed Twin.
Thrilling performance
This revised high-performance engine has a low inertia crank and high compression head powered by the Thruxton R power plant.
Engine updates include:
- New magnesium cam core
- Revised clutch assembly
- New massively optimized engine cover
Together, these features result in a unique 2.5kg weight saving on the Thruxton engine. With a peak power of 97PS at 6,750rpm, the new Speed Twin surpassed the 2016/17 Street Twin by 76% and the 2018 Street Twin by 49%.
In addition, the new Speed Twin engine produces a powerful peak torque of 112 Nm @ 4,950rpm, 40% higher than the 2018 Street Twin.
Speed Twin’s new feature twin silencers, including satin black painted wrap and stainless steel end caps, create the awkward sound of a British twin, a unique exhaust note that complements its well-known and robust nature. Full, deep and complete.
Behind the beautiful appearance is a liquid cooling system that has been carefully integrated to provide clean emissions and improve fuel economy as well as reduce its visual effects. Combined with the first major service interval of 10,000-miles (16,000-kilometers), it reduces the total cost of ownership.
Advanced rider technology
The new Speed Twin is a comprehensive suite of rider-focused technologies that provide advanced ride control and safety, as well as boost riders’ confidence – all while maintaining the mood and character of the legendary Bonewall.
The following technical features are available on SpeedTwin:
- Three riding modes
- The three riding modes, sports, road, and rain, are connected to the wiring system via the ride, and each has throttle maps and traction control settings, which give the rider more control and safety, and in ‘Sport.’ A more immediate throttle response.
ABS
ABS is a modern safety standard with minimal aesthetic effects. It is responsible but unclear.
Switchable traction control
When traction is compromised, the switchable system manages the strong torque output of the speed twin, giving the rider more control.
LED DRL headlight
LED daytime running light, integrated into the headlamp, provides exceptional visibility and a unique light profile (where the law allows).
LED rear light & indicators
LED rear lights and indicators, built into the classically inspired minimalist tail setup, provide a unique rear light pattern and a robust power economy.
Ride-by-wire
Increased throttle response, safety, and sensation.
Torque assist clutch
The clutch is optimized for light touch and feels, making riding more accessible and prolonged.
Switchgear
On the new dual watches, the beautiful switchgear provides simple controls at the fingertips for easy access to critical functionality.
USB charging socket
The USB charging plug charges the riders’ essential electronics for maximum convenience.
Engine immobilizer
Incorporating a critical transponder enhances security.
Stylish twin clocks
The new dual watches, which are surprisingly detailed and elegant, have a digital menu system that can be accessed via the scroll button on the handlebars.
