Moto Guzzi values since 1921: almost a century of tradition, passion, and significant commercial and sporting success; nearly a century of magnificent motorcycles, all built-in Mandello del Lario, combining the best technologies with first-rate Italian manufacturing techniques. The 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT Adventure Touring Bike is designed to maintain this powerful identity, expertly mixing traditional, evocative styling with cutting-edge technological features. The new Moto Guzzi represents a design philosophy that emphasizes simplicity, practicality, and lightness, resulting in an unadulterated link between rider and motorbike.

Style
The essential ideas at the heart of the Moto Guzzi V85 TT project are simplicity, ease, and practicality, values that are reminiscent of those 1980s enduro motorcycles that could be used for anything from daily travel to adventurous trips, but values that are slowly fading in an increasingly homogenized market, where ranges favor significant size and weight. The Moto Guzzi V85 TT accomplishes its lofty objective of merging a design based on these ideals with the requirements of a modern touring enduro.
As a result, it is deserving of the title of first classic enduro devoted to touring. Its design blends technology and functionality, as well as traditional Moto Guzzi characteristics for long-term reliability. The goal for basic designs is evident: the V85 TT’s lines are defined by the lines of its fuel tank, side panels, and front mudguard, as well as its brand-new sculpted 90° V twin engine.
Chassis Features
With the V85 TT, Moto Guzzi’s ability to manufacture excellent chassis is again shown. Only the new Moto Guzzi can approach a turn with a solid and accurate front end; only the V85 TT can provide the rider with a sensation of control and safety while seeking thrills on the city road. Much of this is due to the unique arrangement of the high-strength steel tube frame, which includes stunning die-cast aluminum rider footpeg support plates (with removable rubber for off-road riding).
In addition to being brand new, it lacks a lower cradle, saving weight while improving engine clearance from the ground, which is critical for off-road riding. It makes use of the engine’s particular anchoring to produce a solid framework that restores accuracy and rigor on the city road, as well as sturdiness and the right feel for off-road riding in the quest for lightness, logic, and accessibility. The frame’s rear section maximizes cargo capacity while providing the passenger with two broad and proper grasp grips. For significantly decreased lateral bulk, a bag may be put on the practical rear luggage rack, while optional panniers can be affixed to the sides.
The tiny new block engine’s reduced longitudinal development allows for a highly long swingarm for safe and intuitive riding. The redesigned asymmetric unit is box-type aluminum and has a bent left arm for a more linear exhaust pipe and less lateral bulk. The new shaft drive gearbox is housed in the swingarm’s right arm. The V85 TT is the only motorcycle in its class with a shaft drive gearbox, which is preferred over a chain drive because it is cleaner and needs less maintenance. Because of its tilting location, the single shock absorber with variable stiffness spring allows for tremendous advancement. Its lateral location also makes access to the hydraulic and spring pre-load adjustments easier, freeing up space in its exhaust system and enabling any panniers to be attached more snugly to the bike.
The suspension offers enough wheel travel (equal to 170mm for both wheels) for gratifying off-road performance, as well as a substantial engine ground clearance of 210 mm (an aluminum sump guard covers the engine) while still providing road comfort. The fork (having 41 mm stanchions) and the shock (with separate tank) include shock preload and hydraulic rebound adjustments. The braking system is of high quality, with a twin 320 mm steel front disc and two radials mounted Brembo calipers, including four opposed pistons, which are linked to the pump through metal trellis tubing at the handlebar. A 260mm steel floating caliper with two pistons is located at the back.
A new engine, a future classic
A new Moto Guzzi engine debuts on the V85 TT. It has the same architecture as all current Moto Guzzi bikes: an air-cooled transverse 90° V twin having OHV distribution and two valves per cylinder, the Mandello Eagle’s pride and legacy. The bore to stroke ratio of 84 mm x 77 mm gives the engine a capacity of 853 ccs. It is the most contemporary range’s engine, with a specific power of about 100 HP/liter.
The new “eight and a half” is capable of delivering a peak power of 80HP and a maximum torque of 80 Nm at 5,000 rpm, with approximately 90 % of the torque already available at just 3,750 rpm, in keeping with the tradition of the Mandello twin, which has always offered excellent drive even at very low revs, thanks to its completely new design and the use of materials typically used in race bikes, such as titanium. It is the first Moto Guzzi small block engine to quickly achieve 8000 rpm, demonstrating its contemporary and enthusiastic spirit.
Innovative Technology
Moto Guzzi brand has designed a complete range of standard electronic equipment, without any inopportune technological overload, for maximum travel enjoyment, for the V85 TT project to achieve its primary goal, or rather to satisfy Guzzista daily well as in their touring and adventurous off-road riding. Moto Guzzi has introduced three new riding modes on the V85 TT to make a living onboard simpler and safer: Road, Rain, and Off-road.
Each of these Riding Modes correlates to a different engine mapping, MGCT traction control (which may be disengaged), and ABS calibration, as well as a different Ride-by-Wire throttle response.
The rider merely needs to choose their riding mode selected, confident in the knowledge that Moto Guzzi has created the most excellent possible electrical arrangement for each Riding Mode.
The V85 TT also has Cruise Control, which allows you to maintain a specified pace without using the throttle. This technology is also intended to make a rider’s trip simpler; all that is required is one button to activate and engage the system, as well as to raise or decrease the fixed pace.
Moto Guzzi MIA, an all-new Moto Guzzi multimedia platform, allows a smartphone to be linked to the car (through an ECU available from the extensive Moto Guzzi accessory catalog), enhancing instrument capability. Using a helmet intercom, the Moto Guzzi MIA can play music and make/receive phone calls. It also has a navigation function for the first time, enabling the rider to search and specify a destination and display instructions on the instrument cluster in the form of intuitive pictographs.
A Vast Range of Original Accessories
The V85 TT was made with various unique accessories in mind, designed to accentuate distinct spirits. Moto Guzzi developed and manufactured all of the accessories. To ensure a long-lasting and high-quality product, they are all homologated and submitted to complete control test cycles, just like every other original item on the bike.
Moto Guzzi sells three distinct accessory bundles, each of which may be bought separately.
