2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle – Features and Price

Unique, elegant design

With its clean surfaces, tight lines, and contrasting front and rear visual mass, the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle maintains the family’s distinguishing characteristics while raising the bar on quality and finish. This bike’s new side panels give it a cleaner, more modern appearance. Ducati’s attention to detail can be seen in several places, including the frame, which strikes the perfect balance between weight and performance, the rear aluminum subframe with integrated luggage mounts, and the ergonomic, practical switchgear. To match the contemporary instrument panel and the new aluminum-insert key.

2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle

The five Y-spoke wheels of the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle are a distinguishing feature. Everything about the 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati is geared at making it easy to use and efficient to operate. It’s like the Multistrada 1200 Endures rear grab handle, which now accepts aluminum side panniers instead of plastic ones from Touratech (both optional).

Designers’ obsession with the minor details led them to rethink the under-seat profiles to change the seat’s height. They’ve been shrunk in size to make them less noticeable once they’re installed. Finally, the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle comes equipped with LED turn indicators and a redesigned number plate holder.

The new TFT instrument panel

The LCD instrument panel on the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle has been redesigned with a more intuitive information arrangement and menu system. New icons for the left switchgear simplify menu access: an empty dot indicates that a short press of the button is needed. In contrast, a solid dot indicates that the rider must press the button for a more extended period.

The new 5″ TFT instrument panel on the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle has a completely redesigned UI. There is now 186.59 PPI on the new TFT panel, making it easier to read in the sun and easier to navigate through the menus thanks to the improved graphic laridert and selectable settings. Riding Modes are now distinguished by color to make it easier for riders to pick one out Sport mode is red, Touring mode is white at night, and black during the day; Urban is grey; Endure is brown.

LCD and TFT display engine coolant temperature, fuel level, speed, rpms, selected gear, total mileage, trip1 and trip2, trip1 and trip2 and a clock. The selected Riding Mode, outstanding range, current fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, average speed, air temperature, travel time, and an icy road surface warning are among the other information displayed.

Hands-Free Ignition

The Hands-Free system, which increases security, makes it possible to start the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle without using a mechanical key. Even if the electronic key is never removed from the rider’s pocket and is within a 2-meter radius of the bike, the system will automatically read the key’s code. When the rider presses the “on” button, the bike is powered up, the display is active, and the engine can start. To remove the seat and filler cap, the electronic key has a mechanical “flip” key. A steering lock with an electronic actuator is also available.

Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262

The DVT engine (Desmodromic Variable Timing) optimizes high-rpm performance to deliver optimum power by independently changing the timing of the new exhaust and intake camshafts. Instead, it smooths operation at low-to-medium rpm, improving power delivery and increasing torque. In reality, this is a Euro 4-compliant engine with excellent fuel efficiency that continuously alters its characteristics as the rpm changes – undetected by the rider.

The 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle engine’s increased displacement to 1262 cc raises the bar on ride ability and performance. Ducati engineers created a 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle engine to deliver maximum torque in the low-to-mid RPM range. Delivery at 5,500rpm is 18% higher than the previous model thanks to torque available under 3,500 rpm, accounting for 85% of the available torque. In other words, the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle has the most extraordinary torque output in its class while running at the most often utilized rpm range of 4,000 revolutions per minute (rpm).

2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle

To increase the displacement, the piston stroke was increased from 67.9mm to 71.5mm (the bore remains 106 mm). All three of these components needed to be replaced, so the engine had to be completely disassembled. 158 Hp at 9,750 rpm and 13.2 kgm of torque at 7,500 rpm are the maximum output and torque, respectively, of the DVT system, which has been re-calibrated to maximize low-to-mid range torque delivery.

To achieve this level of performance, engineers redesigned the engine’s exhaust and intake systems. Redesigned exhaust piping, new prescience laridert, and new silencer were all implemented. The air intake mouth was redesigned at the intake end.

The DVT logo is featured on metal support on the new belt covers. As part of DQS up & down, the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle engine’s generator cover has been redesigned to accommodate the more advanced gear sensor better. A shorter stroke has been added to the gear lever linkage for improved engagement accuracy.

Desmo delight

The Testastretta DVT engine, as anticipated, makes use of Ducati’s Bologna-built motorcycles’ Desmodromic valve actuation technology. The intake and exhaust valves are mechanically closed using this system with the same level of precision with which they are opened. It’s called desmodromic because it comes from the Greek terms demos (link) and dromos (stroke), and it refers to mechanisms that have control to operate them in one direction (for example, opening) and another to trigger them in the other (closure or return). The use of this system on Ducati Corse’s Superbikes and MotoGP bikes demonstrates the soundness of this system, which is used on all Ducati models.

Frame

The 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle’s frame and swingarm have been completely redesigned. The redesigned swingarm is 48 mm longer and has a 24° increase in steering angle. These modifications have resulted in a 55-millimeter increase in wheelbase. Aside from providing improved cornering performance, the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak’s revised engine character and suspension configuration also provide complete stability while riding two-up with the side panniers fully loaded.

2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle

Frontal Trellis structure with large-diameter but thin tubing and two lateral subframes closed off by a fiberglass-reinforced plastic rear load-bearing element provide maximum torsional stiffness to the chassis. Designed as a single die-cast element with manufactured and weld core parts, the single-sided swingarm adds significantly to the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle’s sure-footed handling since it is robust, hollow, and lightweight.

Suspension

The Sachs 48 mm front fork is standard equipment on the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle. (With tubes in the distinctive ceramic grey, the signature color identifying semi-active suspension and forged bottom bracket). Sachs is the manufacturer of the rear shock absorber. The DSS Evolution technology controls a semi-active front and rear suspension system from Ducati. The hydraulic damper and rear spring preload may be adjusted for compression and rebound.

Having 170 mm of travel in both suspension systems (front and back) ensures a pleasant ride even when the bike is fully laden, as well as safe off-road handling. The DSS Evolution on the S provides even more comfort by allowing fast and easy changes to the bike’s configuration according to the rider’s needs and the kind of trip they are taking: alone, with baggage, with a passenger, or with both a passenger and luggage. Both the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Ducati DAir and the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle have had their internal suspension system changed.

Tires and rims

The 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle features 340 grams lighter five Y-spoke light alloy wheels than the 2019 Multistrada 1260S Pikes Peak Ducati Adventure Motorcycle. Pirelli SCORPIONTM Trail II, 120/70-17 tires, are mounted on the front and 190/55-17″ tires are mounted on the rear on all versions.
