Design
The Ducati Multistrada 950 was developed to achieve compactness and eye-catching styling of all times. This motorcycle combines the design of Multistrada 1200 and Multistrada 1200 Enduro to gain maximum compactness and agility. The front-on view features the distinctive headlight beak with an adjustable screen and two ‘wings’ with tank inspired from Multistrada 1200. Engine Features
The 2018 Ducati Multistrada 950 Motorcycle is powered by the twin-cylinder liquid-cooled 937 ccm Testastretto 11 degree engine. It is Euro 4 approved that that contains four valves per cylinder along with bore and stroke measurements of 94 mm and 67.5 mm, respectively. The engine can quickly deliver the maximum power of 113 hp at 9,000 rpm while the maximum torque can be reached at 96.2 Nm at 7,750 rpm. The compression ratio has been set at 12.6:1 to better performance as compared to 2017 Ducati Multistrada 950.
An all-new twin-cylinder engine contains two cylinder heads featuring redesigned oil circuit and secondary air intake ducts on the covers. It gulps in the fuel mixture through 53 mm cylindrical-section throttle bodies being controlled by an advanced Ride-by-Wire system. Furthermore, the engine also contains the new control unit and electronic injection system as well. The exhaust system is 2-1-2 type having a lateral silencer.
The clutch is the oil batch type having slipper function and low-effort lever control. Its slipper function cuts in whenever the rear wheel exerts back-torque that helps in reducing pressure on the brakes. The engine requires quiet large maintenance intervals i.e. 15,000 km (9,000 miles).
Chassis Features
The frame of the 2018 Ducati Multistrada 950 Bike has been designed with front Trellis having a large-diameter yet thin tubing. The two lateral aluminum sub-frame guarantees to achieve maximum torsional rigidity while it has a minimum ground clearance of 118.5 mm. The shell-cast aluminum twin-sided swingarm comes with black paint.
The Multistrada 950 comes with the front upside down 48 mm fork having 170 mm of travel. It has a dedicated cast fork leg along with adjustable spring pre-load and hydraulic compression and rebound damping. The rear section features Sachs shock that connects the swingarm to the left sub-frame. The spring is progressive, and it consequently increases ride comfort even when the bike is fully loaded. The motorcycle is equipped with alloy wheels, including Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires with 120/70 R19 at the front section and 170/60 R17 at the rear. These tires come with off-road racing and road performance characteristics.
The braking system consists up of Brembo M4.32 monobloc radial calipers having four 32 mm diameter pistons and two pads, an axial pump and dual 320 mm front discs. The rear braking system features the 265 mm disc including floating caliper, to ensure perfect braking performance.
