KTM 1290 Super Adventure R 2017 Bike – Specification
Limitless Power, Bottomless Grunt
The newly launched KTM 1290 Super Adventure R 2017 bike comes with the 1,301 ccs V-Twin engine offering a 160 horsepower and torque of 140 Nm. The 108 Nm torque is available at 2,500 rpm. Due to this much power, this bike has got the name of “The Beast”. The engine features new cylinders with the newly developed cylinder head and the new crankshaft. It also features a twin plug ignition system that controls the two differently sized spark plugs. These spark plugs are positioned in each cylinder head independently for optimised combustion. It results in more power, low fuel consumption and lower emissions. Due to the high-quality components and reliable engine, this bike has extremely long service intervals of 15,000 km. The new and small weight crankshaft helps in smooth responsive of an engine. The spread transmission transfer the power to the clutch basket without any backlash, which eliminates the vibration and reduces the engine noise. The intake sides contain a newly developed resonator chamber specially designed to polish torque output in the lower to mid-range rpm. The handlebar includes switches on the left side and display in the TFT dashboard allows the rider to set and change the requested speed intuitively. This cruise control comes as a standard with the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure R 2017. The sixth gear of this bike serves as a great overdrive, and it saves fuel and adds to the cruising comfort. Each cylinder of the engine has state-of-the-art 4-valve cylinder head. They combine with the twin plug ignition, flow-optimized ports and slick low-friction valve train with the cams from each of the cylinder camshaft driving DLC-coated cam followers. The Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) is extremely hard, durable and has well-suited coating used in most of the KTM Bikes. The Ride-By-Wire system guarantees the smooth throttle response. It offers perfect application of torque. It can electronically translate the throttle commands of the rider into the throttle valve positions. This new RBW system is now fully compliant with the new strict DIN 26262 safety standard from the automobile sector. The new slipper clutch assists the torque when he opens the throttle, and it also opens when the engine back-torque becomes too high. It prevents the destabilising rear wheel chatter when braking sharply plus it reduces the lever force required for changing gear. The newly developed pistons from the Formula one technology offers a high loading capacity. These have extremely short and lightweight design. They have three mm more diameter as compared to those of KTM 1190 Adventure plus they weigh 47 grammes lighter. The piston shirts have a new state-of-the-art, Graf finish, which not only reduces friction but it features hard wearing.

Travel Pack
This adventurous bike features quick shifter plus, which allows slick, clutchless up and downshifting under any load. The new optional Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) works in the opposite direction to the MTC. Due to any abrupt throttle opening causes the engine torque too high, the ride-by-wire system opens the throttle exactly as much as it is needed to avoid the rear wheel from drifting. Thanks to MSC, this system is also lean-angle sensitive. The optional Hill Hold Control (HHC) prevents the bike from accidentally rolling backwards. This system automatically applies the brake when the bike is going back down the hill. The rider can also connect his phone via Bluetooth with the motorcycle and can receive incoming calls and use audio player.
State-of-the-Art Safety
The all-new KTM 1290 Super Adventure R 2017 bike features one of the best Bosch MSC assistance package, which is one of the world’s first lean-sensitive cornering ABS. This system is based on high-quality 9ME modulator. It combines the efficient pressure modulation with the high-quality pressure modulation with the high-quality BREMBO hardware for the most advanced braking system. Whenever the front brake lever is engaged, the rear brake is simultaneously applied for optimises stability. The new Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) is the lean-sensitive traction control system, which reacts immediately if the rotational speed of its rear wheel is not proportional to the riding situation. The MTC reduces the engine output in milliseconds in an incredibly smooth way. This MTC allows four different levels of traction slip at the rear wheel. “Sport” is for respectable drifts, “Street” offers smooth, controlled riding with full engine power. “Rain” allows maximum grip in wet condition while “Offroad” allows 100 percent slippage. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPRM) check the tire pressure and alarms the rider in case of pressure loss.
